From the Pontifical Catholic University of Lima a call for half of the 120 scholarships available, aimed at combating climate change

The message came from Lima, the fascinating and ancient Peruvian capital: “Entrepreneurs of the future, this is your moment!”.
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIDE) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) has launched a new program, called “Green FET,” through which it seeks to promote sustainable and genuinely innovative business initiatives.
To facilitate this process, it has been decided that the promoters of the most deserving projects will be awarded half of the scholarships available to the most deserving students. If anyone in Latin America has an idea that can contribute to a greener planet, this is the perfect opportunity to make it happen.
In fact, as climate change becomes a more evident and urgent reality, the need to adopt sustainable practices arises. As a necessary response, a project was born in the South American country that guarantees half of the 120 grants usually available to people interested in this topic.
The devastating effects of climate change are a palpable reality in the Amazon
The scale of the disaster related to global warming is not limited to the loss of human lives and injuries, but has also had a significant impact on the environment. A clear case is the recent forest fires in the Peruvian Amazon, where 1.495,33 hectares of crops were lost and another 1.264,85 were damaged, in addition to the destruction of 2.257,96 hectares of natural forest and undergrowth, which has seriously affected local biodiversity.
With the rise of extreme weather events and growing concerns about biodiversity, “Green FET” focuses on empowering local entrepreneurs or what they want to develop creative and responsible solutions. By offering tools, training and resources, the program not only promotes the creation of green projects, but also contributes to building a more resilient and sustainable future, in line with global calls for transformation towards greener economies.
Access to the resources and knowledge needed to promote green initiatives
The “Green FET” program offers participants tools and methods, training and advice, to develop their ideas and transform them into sustainable realities. In an effort to encourage creativity and innovation, the CIDE of the PUCP launches this call at the national level, thus facilitating access to the resources and knowledge needed to promote green initiatives.
In this sense, “Green FET” is designed to promote ecological entrepreneurship, through a real competition whose participants will learn sustainable logic, circular economy and responsible development. The goal is to create a space where innovative ideas can flourish, contributing to the well-being of the planet and the Peruvian community.
The call was open until November 30, 2024 and all entrepreneurs with projects focused on sustainability were invited to submit their ideas.
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru has established itself as a leader in supporting entrepreneurial initiatives in the Andean nation.
It is with programs such as “Green FET” that it has reaffirmed its mission to promote responsible and sustainable business practices, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
