The Neapolitan dish is known and loved all over the planet: let's find out why sometimes it would be better to stop eating it or limit it

Why should the consumption of pizza be reduced? The question has been bouncing around for some time in the media and blogs without finding a single answer, which is why it is worth putting the situation in sharp focus.
This particular food, specifically in the so-called Margherita version, would even be recognized, in the context of research that was conducted by Professor Umberto Veronesi, as one of the healthiest foods as well as having anticancer characteristics.
But what are its origins? In June 1889, chef Raffaele Esposito of Pizzeria Brandi, which still exists today, was summoned to the Royal Palace of Capodimonte to cook three pizzas at the invitation of the Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy. The sovereign particularly appreciated the version with tomato, mozzarella and basil, the colours of the Italian flag. The dish was then immediately renamed in honour of the sovereign (with reference to the fact that the term "pizza", then unknown outside the city of Naples, almost always indicated sweet pies), where the savoury toppings he got his hands on, tomato, fiordilatte and basil, represented the same colours of the Italian flag.

Tomato and olive oil are the enemies of cancer
This is because the tomato, rich in lycopene, when subjected to high temperatures would increase the properties useful to man.
Furthermore, the beneficial power would be accentuated when it is combined with extra virgin olive oil.
These characteristics would help fight free radicals circulating in our body.
If we remain in the area of tumors we can read that, according to the World Health Organization, the main cause of cancer is inflammation.
The inflammatory state is considered by experts to be one of the most relevant factors, given that it is a consequence of harmful lifestyles, characterized by an unbalanced diet, a sedentary lifestyle and bad habits such as smoking.
An inflammatory condition is also present in the most common chronic diseases: therefore, not only in tumors, but also in diabetes, heart and blood vessel diseases, and it is estimated that it is also the basis of some forms of senile dementia such as of Alzheimer's.
Obviously, the immune system plays a fundamental role, and it is precisely a decrease in defenses that, at times, is able to facilitate the onset of a disease.
In cancer, even the cells responsible for defending the body are often "recruited" by the tumor mass to protect its growth.

Is pizza really without contraindications?
To answer the question of whether pizza can really help us, let's analyze this dish in its simplest and most basic form, namely the Margherita.
It contains large quantities of flour, about 130 grams if we consider a normal pizza, therefore not in a "Neapolitan" dough, which requires about double.
To make 130 grams of flour it takes about 165 grams of wheat grains and already here we are faced with the first problem of the modern era: bran, which is the part of wheat rich in fibre, is lost during grinding.
In addition to this, most of the proteins also vanish, leaving only starches, which are sugars, and gluten intact.
Both ingredients mentioned are inflammatory agents for our body, which is designed to dispose of both sugars and gluten, but not in these high quantities.

From the absence of bran to the cooking of milk…
In fact, the fibers present in bran would greatly slow down the absorption of gluten and starches, allowing our body to have to dispose of a small amount at a time, while today's means of production eliminate precisely the only element that would help the our organism.
Let's move on to mozzarella instead, which in itself wouldn't be a big deal for our body, even though milk is an inflammatory food.
The problem, in this case, is that the milk is cooked at over 300 degrees Celsius, making it decidedly difficult to digest because the fats contained in the cheese become highly saturated.
In addition to all this, as we have already seen in previous insights, the combination of cereals and dairy products is one of the worst for our body, because it triggers inflammation and suffering to the detriment of our immune system.
But is it possible that a dish that has ancient roots like pizza is so harmful?
Here we want to clarify something very important: the problem is not simply pizza, but the way in which its ingredients are produced today and the abuse that is made of them.
Fifty years ago, pizza was not eaten as often as we eat it today.
Furthermore, the flours were not "refined" like those currently available on the market.

Three indicators of the dangers children of gluten and starches
To understand how annoying pizza is for our body, it is enough to think of three things that happen to many people, during the consumption of this food, without them paying the right and necessary attention to it:
a) from halfway through the pizza onwards the nose begins to run slightly, often accompanied by a little hoarseness: all this is caused by the formation of mucus as a response of our body to a potentially harmful external agent;
b) there is often increased sweating, caused by the body trying to eliminate toxins as soon as possible, by raising the body's temperature;
c) finally, we feel very thirsty due to the frightening glycemic peaks to which our brain is subjected, from which it defends itself by calling in water to dilute the blood and thus lower the glucose level.
This information, of course, is information that can be useful for people without medical conditions.
Alternatively it is always useful, first of all, to listen to the opinion of a doctor and pay attention to the signals that our body gives us.

The risk of accentuating both high blood pressure and arthritis
Those who suffer from high blood pressure, for example, after a pizza for dinner, will most likely have skyrocketing lows the next morning.
Those with arthritis, on the other hand, will feel more pain in the following 3 or 4 days.
But is it possible to eat a pizza without necessarily hurting yourself?
Certainly you can make more suitable choices than others, such as a Marinara or a Napoli, therefore without the mozzarella, or a Tuna and Onions, always without the classic stringy cheese ......
In general, adding vegetables to pizza helps us increase the amount of fiber ingested and is always a good and useful practice…
