It has been officially confirmed and implemented: on the afternoon of Saturday 29 October 2022, the canton of Grisons literally entered the world history of rail transport.
The Rhaetian Railway has brought the longest narrow-gauge passenger train in the world along the route of the UNESCO World Heritage Site: from the Albula Tunnel in Preda to the famous Landwasser Viaduct at the gates of Filisur.
Several thousand guests and railway enthusiasts attended the public event in Bergün or positioned themselves along the mentioned route to experience this unique journey for themselves.

45 minutes of descent, 800 meters of altitude difference to the Landwasser viaduct

The RhB traveled the Albula line on Saturday afternoon, 29 October 2022, with 25 four-part Capricorn railcars, made by the leading Swiss manufacturer Stadler.
The 1.906-metre-long train was lined up like a string of pearls in the Albula Tunnel during the night between Friday and Saturday as well as on Saturday morning.
It then departed from Preda at around 14pm.
Shortly after 15pm, the record-breaking convoy reached its most iconic destination: the spectacular crossing of the Landwasser Viaduct.
During the approximately 45 minutes of descent, the altitude difference amounted to almost 800 meters, and for example two helical tunnels were passed through.
